One Planet Oregon petition

The One Planet Oregon Petition

Change.org

In 2010 the Welsh government codified rigorously planned One Planet Low-Impact Developments in the open countryside as part of an overall Sustainable Development Scheme, One Wales:One Planet. This legislation has legalized low-impact, indefinitely sustainable livelihoods in Wales. A First-World first! We want this approach furthered through legislative agility here in Oregon.

Hear, hear! I’ve followed the Wales example. Please heed.

We have no choice in the matter. We WILL achieve complete sustainability. Whatever we fail to do voluntarily we WILL do involuntarily. So we have every reason to stop making excuses and get down to business!

It is an irrefutable matter of physics, mathematics and geology that this current paradigm of modern, industrialized civilization will not continue. Creating a new paradigm capable of even beginning to replace the current one would be so disruptive of the existing paradigm that no politician wanting to keep his or her job will go there. Given the complete lack of leadership in our “leaders”, the next best thing would be to allow living models of genuine, meaningful sustainability to flourish. One Planet Oregon would legalize such developments. Sustainability is not optional. The transition coming toward us will happen. Whatever we don’t do voluntarily we WILL do involuntarily. One Planet Oregon is an effort to do this the easy way instead of the hard way.

Everyone should put their oar in the water on this issue!
Either we live sustainably proactively by choice or painfully by crisis.
